The Nissan NP200 is South Africa's best-selling half-tonne bakkie, built locally at the Rosslyn plant from 2008 until production ended in 2024. Based on the Renault-Nissan B0 (Logan) platform shared with the Dacia Logan Pick-Up, the NP200 was sold in petrol and diesel form. Petrol units run the Renault K7M 1.6L 8-valve and later the K4M 1.6L 16-valve four-cylinder. The diesel uses the K9K 1.5 dCi turbodiesel — the same engine fitted to Renault Clio, Megane and Duster, which makes parts cross-shopping straightforward. Common issues include K9K injector failures, EGR clogging on high-mileage diesels, timing belt wear on the K7M (every 90,000 km), clutch slip on heavily loaded units and rear leaf spring sag from constant overloading.
